Two Nigerians, three others arrested over alleged abduction gang rape of tourist in italy

Two Nigerians linked to gang rape of tourist in Italy.

Italian authorities have arrested five African migrants, including two Nigerian men, over the alleged abduction and repeated sexual assault of a female tourist in Rome.

The victim, a 32-year-old woman from Colombia, reportedly arrived in the Italian capital on May 9, 2026.

According to reports, she had gone out alone for dinner near Rome’s Termini Station before allegedly being approached by a man who offered to take her to buy hashish, a cannabis-derived substance.

After walking with him for some time, the woman was reportedly led to a van where she was allegedly abducted and transported to an abandoned building located on the eastern outskirts of Rome.

Investigators said the building was occupied by at least 22 undocumented migrants, and five men allegedly drugged the woman, threatened her life, and repeatedly assaulted her over a 72-hour period.

The suspects were also accused of stealing her mobile phone and wallet during the ordeal.

The woman eventually escaped from the building and was later found in a distressed condition by an Italian man, who reportedly took her to Casilino Hospital for treatment.

Medical examinations allegedly revealed signs of violence and indications that she may have been drugged.

The incident triggered an urgent investigation by Italy’s Flying Squad Section IV, leading to a coordinated police raid on the abandoned property.

Officers from the Prenestino District Police, the Forensic Police Unit, and the Immigration Office participated in the operation.

The five suspects arrested were identified as Saidykhan Lamin, 29, and Karamba Kanteh, 38, both from Gambia; Harouna Traore, 43, from Mali; and two Nigerians, Isibor Wisdom, 29, and Paul Nwabueze, 39.

Authorities said the men are facing charges related to gang rape, with prosecutors alleging that the crime was aggravated by the victim’s vulnerable condition.

Police also disclosed that investigations are continuing into the possible involvement of three additional individuals, including the man who allegedly lured the victim away from the restaurant area, the driver of the van, and the owner of the abandoned building.

During the operation, law enforcement officers reportedly identified 22 undocumented non-EU migrants at the property.

Several were taken into custody over immigration-related violations, while others were issued deportation orders and transferred to detention facilities in Ponte Galeria, Palazzo San Gervasio, and Bari.

The victim reportedly identified the suspects through photographic identification procedures as investigations continue.
