The Cambodian government has issued a directive ordering all foreign nationals currently in the country to leave on or before May 31, 2026.

The announcement was made in an official statement signed by the Director-General of the General Department of Immigration, Lt. Gen. Som Sopheak, and approved by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior, Gen. Sar Sokha.

According to the notice, the immigration waiver previously granted to African nationals will expire on May 31, 2026, and all affected foreigners are expected to leave Cambodia before the deadline.

Authorities warned that any foreign national found entering or remaining in Cambodia from June 1, 2026, onward would face strict legal consequences. The government stated that violators could be arrested either at airports or any location within the country.

The statement further explained that offenders may face a two-year prison sentence and would also be required to pay a fine of $8,000 before being permitted to leave Cambodia.

In addition, Cambodian authorities announced plans to begin nationwide operations targeting foreigners who overstay their permits or attempt to hide within the country after the deadline.

The government stressed that immigration laws would be strictly enforced and urged all affected individuals to comply fully with the directive.

Officials also noted that anyone arrested for violating the order would be handed over to immigration authorities for further legal action.
