Nigerian teenager jailed in London after gunpoint Porsche robbery attempt

A 19-year-old Nigerian, Fawaz Oyedeji, has been sentenced to four years in prison by the Inner London Crown Court after posing as a prospective car buyer to rob a £72,500 Porsche Cayenne at gunpoint in Southwark, London.
The convict, a resident of Greenwich, was found guilty of attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm following an investigation by UK law enforcement.
According to court details, Oyedeji contacted the vehicle’s owner on March 18, 2025, after seeing an online advertisement for the luxury SUV.
He arranged an in-person meeting at the owner’s private residence to inspect the car. After being shown the vehicle, both men sat in the front seats to discuss the financial terms of the sale.
During the conversation, Oyedeji drew what appeared to be a real firearm, pointed it directly at the victim, and demanded the vehicle keys.
However, the owner fought back, resisting the attack and forcing Oyedeji to flee the scene empty-handed.
The victim immediately placed an emergency call to law enforcement. Detectives used mobile phone cell-site analysis, local CCTV footage, and forensic evidence to track the suspect, establishing that the phone used to schedule the meeting was located around Oyedeji’s address and the crime scene.
Oyedeji was arrested at his Greenwich residence on March 20, 2025—less than 38 hours after the botched robbery.
On August 12, an Inner London Crown Court jury returned a guilty verdict after just 26 minutes of deliberation. He was officially sentenced to four years in prison on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
