“Jealousy, infidelity ruined my marriage” — Actor Kunle Afod speaks on separation from wife

Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod has broken his silence regarding the collapse of his marriage to his estranged wife, Desola Afod, attributing the breakup to deep-seated jealousy, mutual accusations of infidelity, and double standards.

The couple’s marital issues culminated in February 2026 when Desola, widely known on social media as “Celeb Wife,” moved her belongings out of their matrimonial home.

Speaking publicly about the split during a recent interview with Kasnasty Sugar, the veteran filmmaker began by offering a general apology to women before detailing the friction that destroyed their home, pointing to the intense demands of the film industry as a major contributing factor.

“This job is heavy to the extent that we sometimes don’t have time for our home,” Afod explained, adding that mutual suspicion severely eroded trust between them.

The actor went on to argue that accusations of infidelity are often hypocritical, alleging that women frequently exhibit behaviors they would never tolerate from their male partners. He raised controversial claims regarding close female friendships and double standards surrounding personal intimacy, questioning why female behavior is judged differently within marriages.
