A routine medical inspection by a mayor took a dramatic turn when he busted on-duty medical professionals engaging in an intimate session inside a hospital room while scores of patients waited anxiously for emergency care.
The explosive incident occurred at the Hospital Municipal Jailton Messias de Sousa Albuquerque in Barreiros, Pernambuco, Brazil, during a late-night surprise inspection led by Mayor Carlinhos da Pedreira.
Prompted by mounting public complaints regarding severe delays and the alleged absence of medical staff, the mayor decided to inspect the facility personally.
Upon searching the restricted quarters and staff rest areas, Mayor Pedreira discovered doctors locked inside a private room.
When the door was knocked by a nurse leading the mayor, there was no response. The nurse insisted that there were people inside the room.
After a while, the mayor departed, but asked his team to wait at the door. The mayor returned with a more senior administrative staff member at the facility who appeared to have a spare key.
The administrator attempted to open the door from outside but discovered that there was a key slotted from the inside.
She then proceeded to knock of the door repeatedly until the door was opened by a female, believed to be a medical doctor.
When the team entered, they saw her male counterpart standing by the bed, while the mayor furiously queried while the two doctors were in the room having fun while patients waited outside to receive medical attention.
Footage capturing the chaotic confrontation has since gone viral across social media. In the recording, a visibly incensed Mayor Pedreira can be seen bursting into the room, unleashing a barrage of criticism as he accused the medical personnel of abandoning their posts for intimate liaisons while the emergency waiting room remained severely congested.
Reacting swiftly to the breach of conduct, the municipal government announced the immediate termination of its operational contract with the managing entity, the Associação Beneficente João Paulo II.
The local administration has taken over direct management of the medical facility on an emergency basis to restore operational standards and accountability.
