The paternal family of the late gospel singer, Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, has addressed allegations of financial interest in his estate, clarifying their stance on the ongoing burial site dispute with his widow, Elizabeth.

Speaking on behalf of the family in an interview with content creator Dunmininu, the singer’s paternal uncle, Lawal Ademola, rejected claims that the family is seeking to take over his assets, while insisting that the late musician must be buried in his own house in Ibadan.

Family insists on burial at late singer’s residence

Ademola stated that the family’s primary concern is ensuring that Toluwanisings is interred at the residential property he built before his passing, rather than a public cemetery or church ground as proposed by his widow.

He addressed public speculation regarding the family’s motives, confirming that while they have no interest in the late singer’s property, their immediate priority is upholding customary rites by burying him at his home.

The uncle added that the family offered alternative options, including burying him at his ancestral home, but maintained that a residential burial remains the most appropriate way to honour his legacy.

Widening rift over final rites

The dispute has created a rift between the late gospel singer’s biological family and his widow.

Toluwanisings’ father, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, had earlier expressed similar views, appealing to his daughter-in-law to allow the family to bury his son at his Ibadan residence or in Ikirun, Osun State, where the singer’s late mother was laid to rest.

Allegation of father’s neglect

Ademola defended the late gospel artiste, insisting that he had started to take care of his father and promised to help him roof a house built up to lintel level by December of this year.

According to him, he placed his father on N40,000 monthly stipends which he later upgraded to N50,000 and N80,000 by the time he died.

Ademola however, expressed his dissatisfaction with the family of the wife for allegedly not encouraging him to take better care of his father.

The uncle said he heard that Toluwanimisings gave a house to his wife as a birthday gift during his lifetime. He said he confronted the wife with this information and asked her if she knew he had a father, to which the wife reportedly admitted that she did.

Ademola said when he paid a visit to the gospel singer’s home, he found that the mother of the wife was living with them and he told her that they did not do well for not prompting them to help his father out of poverty.

Toluwanimisings’ demise

The singer died on October 14, 2026, after slumping at his residence in Ibadan. Burial arrangements remain unresolved as the family calls on authorities and relevant stakeholders to intervene in the matter.

Burial on hold

The service of songs for the late singer was held in Jogor Centre, Ibadan, on Tuesda, October 27, with a lot of celebrities in attendance.

However, his burial, earlier planned for today, Wednesday, October 28, will no longer hold.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the late singer’s uncle stated that the family has resolved to halt all burial plans originally scheduled for Wednesday, adding that fellow musicians have since suspended their arrangements.

He noted that while the family accepts the tragedy as God’s will, the circumstances surrounding the death have left them deeply pained and unsettled.

He further called for public and government assistance, stressing that the family requires intervention and support to navigate the difficult situation and resolve the ongoing burial disputes.
