A 26-year-old woman, Vainess Kanyama, has died after she was allegedly beaten by her husband’s mistress in the Kapoto Township of Kitwe, Zambia.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, when Kanyama went to confront the suspect, identified as Christin Ntundwe, over an ongoing extramarital affair with her husband.

The victim’s uncle, Derrick Bwalya, confirmed the incident, stating that he received an urgent call informing him that his niece was found unconscious near the local market. Upon arriving at the scene, he found Kanyama bleeding from her nose and unresponsive. She was pronounced dead shortly after attempts were made to rush her to the hospital.

According to family members, one of the victim’s young daughters witnessed the physical altercation and ran home to alert relatives after her mother collapsed. A post-mortem examination later concluded that the cause of death was severe brain hemorrhaging resulting from blood clots on both sides of the brain.

The matter has been formally reported to local law enforcement. The suspect fled the scene following the fight and remains on the run. Kanyama, who was laid to rest on Friday, August 21, 2026, is survived by three children, the youngest aged five. Her family has appealed to the suspect’s partner—the deceased’s husband—to cooperate fully with the police to help track down the fugitive.
