Hospital allegedly stage patient’s death to force ‘stingy’ relatives to pay his bill in Ghana

A shocking incident at Nkwatia Government Hospital, Ghana, has sparked widespread reactions after a patient previously declared dead by hospital staff was later discovered to be alive.
The patient had reportedly been receiving treatment for a serious illness at the facility in the Kwahu area for several weeks.
According to reports, hospital staff had made repeated calls to his family over unpaid medical bills but they did not show up to make payment.
In what has been described as a controversial move, some nurses allegedly informed the patient’s relatives that he had passed away, prompting the family to rush to the hospital.
The relatives reportedly settled the outstanding medical expenses and requested the body.
However, they were shocked to find their family member alive and lying in his hospital bed.
A video of the incident showed angry relatives confronting hospital officials about the deception.
A visibly angry man can be seen talking harshly to a hospital staff member who was recording the scene to prevent the angry relatives from becoming violent.
Reactions have been mixed, with most criticising the tactic employed by the hospital staff, while others commended them for ‘forcing’ the family to take care of their sick member against their will.
