Wike’s son denies $2.1m land deal, alleges signature forgery

Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, son of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, has denied receiving $2.1 million from a businessman for a proposed real estate development in Abuja, telling an FCT High Court that his signature on the transaction documents was forged.
Appearing before Justice Silvanus Oriji in suit number CV/008/2026, Jordan, a lawyer, maintained under cross-examination that he had no business dealings with the claimants, Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited.
American passport produced to verify travel defence
The claimants allege that Jordan collected $2.1 million in cash on September 26, 2025, at a private residence in Gwarimpa, Abuja, as part of a joint venture to develop properties in the Katampe New Extension and Guzape districts.
Jordan rejected the claims and presented his American passport in court following a previous order by Justice Oriji, proving he was outside Nigeria on the date the transaction allegedly occurred.
Key developments from the court proceedings include:
Allegation of forgery: Jordan testified that he never signed any land agreement and only discovered his signature on the document during the ongoing trial.
Disputed contacts: Jordan denied knowing Onor Sandy, an individual named by the claimants as his witness during the alleged cash handover.
Passport admitted as evidence: Justice Oriji allowed a certified photocopy of Jordan’s American passport to remain on the court file while returning the original to the defence, subject to future production.
Audio transcript confronted: When presented with a transcript of an October 2025 voice note (Exhibit 7), Jordan acknowledged that money was discussed in the recording but reiterated that no physical meeting or exchange took place.
Claimants demand $2.1m refund and ₦100m in damages
According to the statement of claim, Garba entered into a joint venture agreement where Jordan was to contribute 3.2 hectares across Katampe and Guzape, while Garba provided $4.2 million in development capital, with profits shared on a 60-40 basis.
Garba alleged that after paying $2.1 million upfront, he discovered another developer working on the sites, and attempts to resolve the matter with Jordan broke down.
He also stated that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike rejected his formal complaint and referred him to the police.
The claimants are seeking a full refund of the $2.1 million with 10 per cent judgment interest, alongside ₦100 million in moral damages.
Justice Oriji adjourned the matter to December 1, 2, and 14, 2026, for the defence to subpoena its witnesses.
