Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued Mrs. Adonkie, the wife of retired Brigadier General Basil Adonkie, following her abduction from her residence in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Tuesday, September 1.
The successful rescue operation, carried out by a combined team from the Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters Garrison, also led to the arrest of two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate and the recovery of military-grade weaponry.
Coordinated pursuit across Kuje Area Council
Following credible intelligence immediately after the abduction, troops initiated a tracking operation along the Aco Estate–Goza Community axis.
Pressed by the advancing military units, the abductors abandoned the victim and fled into the surrounding bush. Mrs. Adonkie was safely secured by troops at Angwan Sabo Village.
Army personnel subsequently expanded their search radius toward the Aco Estate–Angwan Sayawa axis, deploying blocking forces along key escape corridors in the Kuje Area Council.
Suspects intercepted and weapons recovered
During follow-up operations on Wednesday, September 2, troops intercepted two suspects believed to be linked to the abduction near Gaube Village.
Search operations at the scene yielded:
One AK-47 assault rifle
One ammunition magazine
19 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition
The Nigerian Army confirmed that clearance operations remain active throughout the general area to track down and apprehend remaining members of the criminal network.’
