A married woman has spoken strongly against infidelity in marriage during a gathering of the Hikers Club in Port Harcourt.
The married woman, who said she was responding to an earlier remark by a member of the club, said there was no licence for a man to cheat even if he provides for his family.
Addressing the common assumption that financial provision excuses unfaithfulness, she firmly rejected the notion that a breadwinner husband gets a pass for infidelity while expecting total devotion from his wife.
Her candid remarks shift the conversation from traditional transactional marriage dynamics to equal accountability, asserting that financial support does not overwrite mutual loyalty.
A firm stance on boundaries and deal-breakers
Speaking directly beside her husband, the woman outlined a clear zero-tolerance policy for betrayal. Rebuffing the idea of accepting extramarital affairs or children born out of wedlock under the guise of “mistakes,” she stated her readiness to walk away from the union immediately if her boundaries are crossed.
My husband is seated here. I have told him many times. If you cheat on me I am gone”, she declared. She noted that there are men everywhere, but she chose to ignore their advances because she respects her marriage.
She remarked that both she and her husband are good-looking and could have been with any other person, but they chose to stay together as husband and wife.
The married woman boldly asserted that there were many men in the room who would have loved to be with her if she had not married.
The woman further said marriage is a covenant between two people before God, and the covenant must be respected by both parties.
Her declaration emphasises that marital commitment is an intentional choice rooted in personal self-worth rather than financial dependency.
Equality, choice, and agency in modern relationships
Refusing to let monetary provisions dictate her self-respect, she highlighted that partnership is a mutual covenant of choice, not obligation. By reminding her partner that options exist outside the marriage, she framed fidelity as a reciprocal standard rather than a leverage point used by financial providers.
