Neon Adejo’s wife defends hubby against infidelity accusation

Lade Adejo, the wife of gospel musician Neon Adejo, has entered the ongoing public dispute involving celebrity photographer David Martins and his estranged wife, Alicia Daniella.

In a series of public statements, Lade defended her husband’s actions and urged Martins to address the severe allegations of domestic abuse and neglect made against him instead of deflecting blame onto external helpers.

The controversy gained traction after Martins leaked private WhatsApp exchanges between Neon Adejo and Alicia, alleging that the Eze Ebube hitmaker engaged in inappropriate flirting and financial support. 

However, Lade criticised the release of the chats as a calculated effort to manipulate public opinion and construct a narrative that vilifies genuine humanitarian aid.

Directly confronting suggestions that her husband acted with romantic motives, Lade dismissed claims that Neon was depriving his household to assist another woman. 

She emphasised that her husband is a responsible provider who comfortably cares for his family, meaning his generosity to others should not be viewed through a suspicious lens.

“My husband chooses to spend money assisting someone he believes is genuinely in need, best believe he’s spent much more for me, our son and the rest of his family,” Lade stated. “He has and will never deprive me or his family in order to do so.”

She further cautioned the public against assuming that every charitable act carries ulterior motives, arguing that helping a mother and child in distress is a reflection of character rather than improper intentions.

A call for direct accountability

Moving the focus back to the core marital conflict, Lade questioned why public attention had been diverted from the original domestic grievances raised by Alicia. 

She highlighted core issues—including claims that Martins subjected his wife to abuse, abandoned her and their child without adequate shelter in a foreign country, and failed to meet basic family provisions.

Lade stressed that these are the central issues Martins needs to answer for, rather than scapegoating someone who stepped in during a crisis.

“You cannot permanently outrun the consequences of your own actions, nor can you make another person the villain simply because they exposed the responsibilities you failed to fulfil,” she added.

Background of the unfolding controversy

The wider dispute surfaced after Alicia publicly accused David Martins of emotional, financial, and physical abuse, sharing graphic documentation of her alleged injuries. 

Martins subsequently denied the abuse claims and retaliated by accusing Alicia of infidelity, sharing WhatsApp screenshots showing Neon Adejo sending her ₦150,000, paying for temporary accommodation, and requesting a selfie.

It has since emerged that Adejo spent a small fortune to assist Alicia during her domestic crisis in Lagos.

Neon Adejo paid her medical bills, provided food funds, and allegedly paid ₦270,000 per night to secure a month-long Airbnb temporary accommodation for her and her young child in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. 

Neon Adejo previously clarified that his wife was fully aware of his intervention and explained that the selfie request was only to see her new hairstyle after paying for a salon appointment to boost her spirits after her ordeal. 

Lade’s latest public defence reinforces her husband’s account, insisting that accountability belongs with those who created the domestic crisis.
