Legal authorities in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, have brought a historic 5,538 criminal counts against a local resident accused of abusing an underage girl over several years.
Court documents reveal that 37-year-old Nicholas Allen Spencer was arraigned on thousands of charges—roughly 4,000 of which carry felony status.
The allegations include multiple counts of rape, aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault, and coercion.
The investigation commenced after the victim, encouraged by a friend, came forward to report the ongoing mistreatment.
She disclosed to law enforcement that the abuse started when she was roughly 12 years old and persisted on a near-daily basis for several years while she was under the age of 16.
Deputy District Attorney Tami Fees noted that the sheer scale of the indictment represents what is likely the largest criminal filing ever mounted in the county, and potentially across the entire state.
Prosecuting officials confirmed they are pursuing a life sentence for Spencer to reflect the severity and prolonged duration of the offence.
Following his arrest, Spencer was remanded to the Clearfield County Prison without bail ahead of a preliminary court appearance set for August 12.
Authorities noted the alleged abuse began when the victim was approximately 12 years old and continued until she was under 16. Spencer was taken into custody and transferred to the Clearfield County Prison, where he is held awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 12.
