President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who passed away on Wednesday in Lagos at the age of 62.
The President’s message was conveyed in a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Family announces passing of Niyi Adeosun
The death of the businessman was formally announced in a statement released on behalf of the family by Rev. C. A. Adeosun.
The family described the late Adeosun as a devoted Christian and distinguished businessman whose life was defined by integrity, hard work, generosity, and service to his community.
He is survived by his wife, Kemi, his children, and his siblings, including Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.
The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support, noting that details regarding funeral and burial arrangements would be shared in due course.
President Tinubu pays tribute
In his condolence message, President Tinubu highlighted the numerous testimonies celebrating Mr Adeosun’s life and philanthropic work, particularly his dedication to uplifting the less privileged.
The President urged the former minister, her family, and business associates to draw comfort from the enduring legacies of faith and charity left behind by the deceased, praying for strength for the family and eternal rest for the departed.
Kemi Adeosun previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2018 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, leading key economic policy responses during the 2016 recession.
