UK-based Nigerian doctor finds former biology teacher working as a nurse in same hospital

A 30-year-old UK-based Nigerian medical doctor, Dr Azeezat Sanusi (popularly known as Dr Zee), has shared a heartwarming reunion with her former secondary school biology teacher, who now works alongside her as a registered nurse at the same health facility in the United Kingdom.

The visual, posted on her social media handle (@zeemed_), captures the duo reflecting on their remarkable transition from a Nigerian secondary school classroom to a medical workplace in the UK.

From the classroom in Nigeria to the hospital floor in the UK

Introducing her former tutor in the viral video, Dr Zee expressed her amazement at the unexpected turn of events.

“I’m here with my secondary school biology teacher. He currently works as a nurse at the hospital where I work as a doctor. Like, how cool is that?” she said. “It just feels amazing that we’re here today. You’re a registered nurse and I am a doctor”.

The former teacher, identified as Nurse Sunday, expressed immense pride in seeing his former student excel in her chosen career. “Which is what everyone prays for,” he responded warmly.

During the lighthearted conversation, Dr Zee jokingly recounted her secondary school days, admitting that she was far from a model student back then.

“You taught me biology in secondary school. To be honest, I don’t even think I was particularly smart in secondary school. I was quite naughty. I was very playful,” she admitted.

She teased her former teacher, saying he likely wouldn’t have picked her if asked to predict which student would eventually become a medical doctor. Nurse Sunday laughingly agreed, confirming he wouldn’t have made that guess back then. Dr Zee also added that, ironically, she “didn’t like biology” while growing up in school.

According to her official profiles, Dr Zee holds professional registrations as both a General Medical Council-registered medical doctor and a Nursing and Midwifery Council-registered practitioner in the UK.
