‘They did not spare toddlers, babies’, elderly Ogbomoso resident recounts school attacks
'They were herded into the bush like cattle,' he says

A resident has given a disturbing account of recent coordinated attacks on schools in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing how armed men allegedly dressed in military-style camouflage stormed school premises, causing panic and abducting multiple victims.
According to the eyewitness account, the attackers reportedly arrived in large numbers from the forest and followed the road to the school, where they shot into the air to scare the pupils, teachers, and staff.
Simultaneous attacks were carried out on two other schools in the Ogbomoso environment.
He said students attempted to escape through windows and other exits, but many were unable to flee due to the suddenness and intensity of the attack. In the confusion, several children were reportedly taken away by the gunmen.
The man further alleged that his daughter-in-law and her baby were abducted, adding that she was seen in a viral video carrying the child while in distress during the incident.
When questioned about the circulation of the video online, he said he had no knowledge of how the footage was recorded or shared, but confirmed it reflected the confusion and panic that followed the attack.
He also claimed that while insecurity incidents had occurred in the area previously, none had reached this scale, stressing that earlier cases involved isolated abductions, unlike the latest incident, which he alleged saw dozens of people taken.
According to him, about 46 persons, including children, were allegedly abducted during the attack, marking what he described as one of the most severe incidents the community has experienced in recent times.
