A female spa worker, Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon, has been left seriously injured after an alleged acid attack in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos State, in an incident reportedly linked to a personal dispute between her employer and her lover.

According to reports and court documents, Awosogbon—popularly known as Ajoke—was assigned to a client for a home massage session on October 25, 2025.

The appointment was around Lakowe Golf Gate, near Utmost Care Hospital in the Lakowe area.

She had reportedly arrived at the location via a ride-hailing service when a man identified as Ziaulihak Zakari allegedly approached her and poured a corrosive substance suspected to be acid on her.

According to filings at Ebute Meta Magistrate Court, the suspect was sent on the errand by a second suspect, Owolabi Daniel, who was in a romantic relationship with Ajoke’s boss, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa.

Ifeoluwa recounted that she met Daniel earlier in 2025 after he booked a massage session. According to her, he later expressed interest in a romantic relationship, which lasted only a few months before she ended it due to ongoing disagreements.

She alleged that after the breakup, she began receiving threatening messages from unknown numbers, including threats to her life.

She also reported suspicious booking patterns, where clients would request home service and then become unreachable upon the staff’s arrival.

Describing the day of the incident, Ifeoluwa said Awosogbon called her in distress after the substance was poured on her.

She was immediately taken to a hospital in Lekki and later transferred to a facility in Ikeja for specialised treatment.

Ifeoluwa further claimed that threatening messages continued even after the attack, warning that she remained a target.

Police investigations eventually led to the arrest of the suspects. Charge sheets filed in court indicate that Zakari and Daniel are facing multiple counts, including conspiracy, issuing threats to life, and causing bodily harm under the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The victim’s lawyer, John Olobayo, criticised the charges, arguing that they do not fully reflect the gravity of the allegations. He added that petitions have been submitted to the Ministry of Justice for further review.

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised over safety after one of the suspects was granted bail. The spa owner expressed fears for her life and that of her staff.

A family member of one of the suspects declined detailed comments, stating that all actions had been handled through legal representation and that financial contributions had been made toward the victim’s medical treatment.

The case continues as authorities pursue further investigation and legal proceedings.
