A Nigerian woman, Mayowa Lambe Ekpo, who her estranged husband accused of ditching their 11-year-old marriage for another man in the United States, has reacted to the allegations.
Mayowa, who resides in the US, has just posted a video of herself cheerfully dancing to a gospel song in her home.
The video, which has since gone viral, shows her in a cheerful mood, prompting mixed reactions from netizens who described the display as “insensitive” given the timing.
It would be recalled that media personality, Roby Ekpo, had taken to The Honest Bunch podcast on Monday to allege that his wife secretly married another man in America while he was funding her lifestyle from Nigeria.
Roby alleged that he only learned of the marriage on social media, as Mayowa did not have the courtesy of telling him she was moving on from their childless union.
The embittered husband broke down in tears at some point, saying that at 48 years old, he still does not have a child.
He claimed that he recently learned that the reason his wife did not conceive was that she was taking contraceptives.
However, Mayowa’s latest post appears to signal a contrasting mood, with the gospel-themed video interpreted by many as either a form of healing or a dismissive response to the controversy.
Critics argue that the video undermines the gravity of Ekpo’s emotional disclosure, with some users questioning her timing and intent.
Others, however, have defended her, suggesting that Roby might have done something grievous to her for her to dump him without feeling any remorse.
They argue that Mayowa Ekpo has the right to move on and express herself, especially if she has chosen not to engage publicly in the allegations.
As the situation continues to trend online, neither party has issued an official statement directly addressing the backlash generated by the video.
