
The lifeless body of a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps, identified simply as Joseph, has been discovered in his room in Benue State two days after he reportedly died in his sleep.
The incident was disclosed on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Takema Akom Smith, in a Facebook post.
According to him, the corps member, who was serving at a rehabilitation hospital in Mkar, Gboko Local Government Area, was believed to have died while asleep, with his body only found after two days.
He wrote that Joseph “died in his sleep and his lifeless body was discovered after two days,” adding that the deceased had been a regular visitor to his business premises.
Further details surrounding the circumstances of his death were still unclear as of the time of filing this report. At the same time, authorities are expected to take necessary steps in line with standard procedure for sudden deaths.
Meanwhile, tributes have begun to filter in from acquaintances and community members who described him as a familiar and friendly presence in the area.
