Unilorin final year Engineering student crafts stunning ‘Castle Cake’ for Ohinoyi of Ebiraland’s birthday

In a heartwarming display of local talent and royal celebration, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Dr Abdul Rahman Ado Ibrahim (CON), was recently honoured on his birthday with an extraordinary, custom-made “castle cake” that has captured the admiration of subjects across the kingdom.
The magnificent masterpiece was presented to the revered monarch by the Talba of Ebiraland, Alhaji Hamza Usman, during a private audience at the royal palace to mark the traditional ruler’s special day.
Spotlighting local talent
Beyond the celebration of the royal father’s life, the highlight of the event shifted to the brilliant mind behind the intricate culinary creation. The towering, highly detailed castle cake was meticulously crafted by Miss Nimah Oyiza Salihu, a young Ebira native.
Remarkably, Miss Salihu is balancing a thriving baking enterprise with rigorous academics; she is currently a final-year undergraduate student studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Ilorin (Unilorin).
A testament to youth ingenuity
The presentation of the cake underscores the immense potential, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit embedded within the youth of Ebiraland. Turning a complex architectural design into an edible work of art requires precision—a trait Salihu clearly brings from her background in chemical engineering.
Receiving a high-profile endorsement from a monarch as historically corporate-minded and refined as Dr. Ado Ibrahim is a massive milestone for the young baker.
The royal reception of her work has sparked immense pride within the Ebira community, serves as an inspiration to other undergraduate entrepreneurs across Nigerian universities, and highlights the beautiful intersection of tradition, youth empowerment, and excellence.
