A pedestrian has been k!lled by a driver plying one-way along the Ifo area of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, told the Punch that the incident happened on Wednesday.
Akinbiyi said the pedestrian was trying to cross the expressway at the time and had looked in the direction where vehicles were supposed to come from before dashing onto the road not realising a driver was coming in the wrong direction at top speed.
The impact of the collision reportedly led to the instant death of the pedestrian.
“A fatal accident at Royal Inbound Abeokuta on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway involving a pedestrian knocked down at the accident spot as he was trying to cross the road.
“The victim was taken to Ifo state morgue before our arrival by the FRSC while, TRACE and Papa are on the ground to move the truck away from the road to police custody for further investigation,” Akinbiyi said.
