Nigerian Baker flabbergasted after client asked for refund following cancellation of wedding a day before ceremony
A Nigerian cake baker has taken to social media to express her predicament after her client reached out to her to ask for a refund because their wedding was cancelled.
According to the baker, the client’s wedding was scheduled for yesterday, Wednesday, September 12, 2024, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The bride is from Mbaitoli Local Government in Imo State while the groom is from Anaocha Local Government of Anambra State.
The baker said the couple had successfully done their traditional wedding and were supposed to have their church wedding at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, House of Grace, Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the bride reportedly called the baker to inform her that she and her husband had parted ways and that the white wedding had been cancelled. She then asked the baker to refund the money she paid to her.
She shared screenshots of her conversation with the bride and the wedding invitation.
In the message shared, the bride wrote:
“Good Morning Ma. Pls have you started baking the cake??
I’d need a refund on the deposit made for the decoration ma. Pls don’t be offended, the wedding isn’t holding anymore.”
When the baker tried to find out whether they were shifting the date, the bride said the wedding was not being postponed but cancelled totally.
She asked for a refund of the decoration deposit after she was told the cake had already been baked.
The bride then asked for clarification that she would not be asked for any further payment if she sent someone to pick up the cake.
The baker told her there would be no further payment.
