There is such a thing as an overnight millionaire, after all!
A minibus (korope) bus driver, Oluwasegun Anozie woke up one day not sure what his family would eat but went back to bed that same night with over N2 million worth of foodstuff, groceries, household equipment and other valuables, all courtesy of a content creator, Asherkine.
Asherkine’s content is typically about surprising strangers with expensive outings including shopping for household items, clothes and other items they ordinarily would not have been able to afford.
This time, Asherkine set his sights on bus drivers.
His storyline for a potential beneficiary is that he wants to hire a bus to help him move what he is planning to buy from a shopping mall.
He scans a public space and settles for Anozie. They haggled the fare and agreed on N7,000 for the trip.
At the shopping mall, Asherkine asks Anozie to wait for him to do his shopping.
While Anozie sat patiently in the bus, Asherkine went inside the stores and bought a busload of household items and other valuables.
Then he asked Anozie what he would like for himself so he could also buy it for him. He responded that it would be nice to have rice for his family.
Many netizens were impressed that when he had that blank cheque to ask for anything all he could think of was food for his family.
Asherkine told him they would get the rice at another location and still asked what else he would like.
At that, Anozie asked for a TV for the family because the one he had was no longer working fine.
Asherkine got the family a flat-screen TV and rice and then got Anozie’s four children gifts such as phones, toys and others.
They later took the gifts to Mr. Segun Anozie’s home, where Asherkine met his wife and his four kids, who were well turned out as the eldest of the children was graduating from secondary school.
Many netizens were impressed that while Anozie was looking shabby and slaving in the sun for his family, the family were indeed looking glamorous and well taken care of.
The entire story of Anozie has touched the hearts of many Nigerians who reached out to Asherkine to ask for his account details to reward him for his largesse to the Anozie’s family.
Other Nigerians have requested Anozie’s bank account details and have been sending him money.
He has been able to pay off the balance on his ‘korope’ so that it has now become his own.
In a post, Anozie also stated that he had received over N2.7m from Nigerians and has been full of thanks to the content creator for allowing God to use him for the Anozie’s family.
A twist was introduced into the Cinderella story when netizens dug up old posts of Mrs Anozie introducing herself as a single mother on some Facebook platforms.
She claimed on the platforms to be co-parenting her children with her ex-husband, whereas they are living together as man and wife.
When a social media influencer asked Segun Anozie, an Igbo man, what could have led to this, he explained that his marriage had been through rough patches, especially after his job could no longer meet the responsibilities of the home.
He said he was unable to pay the rent of the house they were living in at a time when he was earning N60,000 per month. They were subsequently kicked out of the accommodation and his wife was able to raise funds from her friends to rent another property.
It is not clear if it is the same property they are now both living in.
Many netizens are now dragging Tina Anozie, the wife of the Korope driver for not recognizing the struggles of her husband to keep his family going.
