Taiwo Cole’s birth mother accused of abandoning children at six months old

Wofai Fada and Taiwo Cole

More information is emerging on the controversial marriage of Nollywood actress Wofai Fada to her lover, Taiwo Cole.

The latest information coming out indicates that Taiwo’s mother who is now backing him to ignore the wish of his father actually abandoned him and his twin sister at the age of six months.

The father of the groom, Engineer Cole, had disclosed in a telephone conversation with a friend that he divorced Taiwo’s mother 27 years ago.

He also said in the conversation that the divorced wife was at the traditional wedding of Taiwo and Wofai held against his wish.

Information shared on an Instagram blog, Gist Merchant, indicates that the first wife of the engineer left her twins behind and never looked back until recently.

The twins were reportedly taken care of by the second wife of the engineer. The source disclosed that it was disheartening for the woman who raised the twins to learn that one of them had traditional wedding without informing her whereas his birth mother was in attendance.

A source reportedly told the blog: “His birth mother followed him to go and do this marriage. I say birth mother bcos she wasn’t the one that raised him. She abandoned him and his twin sister when they were just 6months old. His family never said he couldn’t marry her but the date he agreed to was in December.

“The boy is an only son. He met her just in December, his dad welcomed her well o. Next thing he came 2 months later that she’s pregnant and he wants to marry. His dad was pissed understandably bcos he has a child in the UK that it’s his family that are responsible for not him.

“Now you wey neva stand well well wan come marry. Anyway everyone told the dad to calm down and they sha cake to an agreement.

“Wofai’s father no do well either. They spoke with him prior and then this happens suddenly. What kind of father will marry his daughter to a man in the absence of his father when no be say ein no get papa.

“The mother that raised him and his twin sef, I can’t imagine how hurt she is.

Another thing is that it is not classism bcos they even thought she was a senator’s daughter cos she drives a new range.”

Recall that the Cole Family set the internet agog when they issued a disclaimer against their son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole’s traditional wedding with Nollywood actress and comedian, Wofai Ewu, popularly known as Wofai Fada, surfaced on social media.

The comedian had announced her engagement to Taiwo on her Instagram page on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in loved-up photos of herself and her heartthrob.

Wofai flaunted a ring worn on the fourth finger of her left hand, unmistakably indicating that a formal wedding was in the offing.

Expectedly, the post sparked congratulatory reactions as fans, colleagues and admirers of the actress besieged the post’s comment section to express their happiness over the development.

Moments after, videos from the couple’s traditional wedding held in Wofai’s village in Ugep, Cross River State, made the rounds on social media.

Cole Family’s statement put a dampener on the joyous occasion.

The statement signed on behalf of the Cole family by Engr Kunle Cole, notified everyone that neither was the family aware of, nor granted permission for the traditional wedding.

The family warned that the couple should not parade themselves as members of the Cole family as they were not known or accepted by the family.

“Images and videos come to our attention showing our son Taiwo getting married to a Wofai Ewa in a traditional ceremony in Ugep, Cross River State.

“This serves to notify all acquaintances, family and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island Lagos are not aware of any marriage ceremony of our Son Taiwo Olakitan Cole, neither did we grant permission nor support in this regard.

“As such, person(s) parading themselves as new members of the Cole heritage by virtue of this purported event, are not known nor accepted by the family. All publications and documents being circulated about this are to be disregarded,” the Coles said.
