Court remands woman for pouring hot water on her hubby two months after their wedding in Niger State

A magistrates’ court in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State has ordered the remand of a housewife, Amina Abashe, after she allegedly bathed her husband, Shehu Abdullahi, with hot water two months after their wedding.

Abdullahi, a commercial driver said Amina first attempted to stab him to death before she poured hot water on him following a disagreement over her frequent phone calls with other men.

The accused was arraigned by the police for causing grievous hurt on the victim contrary to Section 245 of the Panel Code.

The prosecutor, ASP Danladi Marafa, told the court that the accused poured hot water on the victim during a disagreement.

When the charge was read to the accused, she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor requested that the accused be remanded in a correctional centre to enable the prosecution to observe the health condition of the victim who he noted was receiving treatment at the Kontagora General Hospital, and as well as for the security and protection of the accused.

The Magistrate, Khadijah Dauda, who ordered the remand, adjourned the case to April 16.
