A manhunt has been launched for three Islamic State terrorists who were behind a terror attack which killed at least 60 people at a packed concert venue on the outskirts of Moscow.
Around 150 people were also left fighting for their lives when camouflage-clad gunmen opened fire on concertgoers at the Crocus City Hall last night.
Three men, believed to be the killers, have been named by Russian authorities and are feared to be on the run.
In one of the worst atrocities to happen in Russia in recent years, the attackers were shown in unverified videos firing repeatedly at screaming civilians cowering in the concert.
It is also understood the terrorists then threw a grenade or incendiary bomb causing fire to quickly spread through the concert hall in Moscow’s northern Krasnogorsk suburb.
Audience members had been at the venue to see Soviet-era rock group ‘Picnic’ about to perform at 8 pm when the massacre began.
But before the music started, the gunmen marched into the auditorium and opened fire. Scores of people hid behind seats in the hall or rushed towards entrances to the basement or roof to escape the bullets.
It brought back harrowing memories of the Islamic State assault on Paris’s Bataclan concert hall in 2015 when 89 people were shot dead.
A nationwide manhunt has been launched for the individuals (pictured) thought to be responsible for the terror attack.
Meanwhile, ISIS has claimed responsibility for the massacre.
In a statement released on Telegram yesternight, the extremist group said: ‘IS fighters attacked a large gathering on the outskirts of the Russian capital Moscow’ before they had ‘retreated to their bases safely’
