Ayra Star apologizes after being called out for shaking hands with music legend King Sunny Ade, others
Nigerian superstar singer, Ayra Star has apologized after she was called out for not properly greeting King Sunny Ade, Burna Boy’s mum, Bose Ogulu and other elders at an event last night.
A video of the star greeting her seniors was shared online and an X user observed that Ayra was disrespectful for not kneeling for King Sunny Ade who he said was old enough to be her grandfather.
Ayra Starr spotted the comment and apologized profusely, noting that she had just walked in and all the lights and nerves did not let her see.
She further disclosed that she later returned to the legend and others with him to greet them like a proper Yoruba lady would greet her elders.
She tweeted:
“I’m so sorry, I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves didn’t let me see but i came back around to greet everyone properly, I have never been that girl to be disrespectful, I’m a proper Yoruba girlllll and the video didn’t start until after I’d greeted burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle and King Sunny Ade”
