Reports coming out of Israeli media say at least 659 people have been killed in Israel as the country declares a ‘State of War’ after Palestinian group Hamas launched a large-scale surprise attack on the country on Saturday morning, October 7.

Israel retaliated with devastating air strikes, leading to countless loss of lives on the Palestinian side.

Another 2,156 people have been injured.

Hamas initiated this round of hostilities after the group fired thousands of rockets from Gaza and sent fighters into Israel by land, sea and air using paragliders. Many Israelis were killed or abducted.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has now declared that Israel is “at war” following the attack.

“We are at war,” the Prime Minister said as the military launched a series of strikes against targets in the blockaded coastal enclave, including several residential tower blocks that were completely destroyed.
