Stop checking phones, laptops of residents – Imo police Commissioner warns officers
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde, has warned police officers posted on patrol and guard duties to stop harassing members of the public and checking their phones.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, the Commissioner of Police said this in a meeting with the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders at the Command headquarters, Owerri on July 21.
He reportedly charged them to warn their subordinates against indulging in any unprofessional practice as any Police Officer found complicit would be made to face disciplinary actions.
Okoye said he further directed that officers and men should be professional, uphold the rule of law, protect the rights of all citizens, and exercise their lawful duties to the general public without exhibiting any form of vindictiveness.
