Notorious bandits’ kingpin, 11 others killed as security operatives raid hideouts in Bauchi forest

The Bauchi State Police Command has said that 12 suspected kidnappers and bandits were neutralised during a raid in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmad Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, December 19, 2022, said that a joint operation of security operatives engaged the suspects in four hideouts at Mansur, Digare, Gwana and Dajin Madam in Alkaleri Forest.

According to the PPRO, a notorious bandit-kidnap kingpin, ‘Madaki Mansur’ was among those killed in the daring joint operation.

Wakil stated that the kingpin had been terrorising Alkaleri LGA, and the neighbouring states of Taraba, Plateau and Gombe.

“In our combined efforts to stem the menace of banditry in Bauchi State, especially in Alkaleri L.G.A., the command was at its best recently; On the 19th December 2022 at about 0230hrs a Joint Operation of security operatives engaged suspected bandits/kidnappers in four different hideouts; Mansur, Digare, Gwana and Dajin Madam in Alkaleri forest,” the statement read.

“Following the hot exchange of superior fire-power by the operatives which left twelve (12) of the kidnappers neutralized while others were subdued, dislodged, and scampered in disarray into the nearby bushes with possible gunshot wounds and abandoned their camp.

“Consequently, weapons and operational motorcycles were recovered during the operation. Meanwhile, the Command is intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing members of the syndicate.”
