Governor Nyesom Wike has vowed to retaliate for any wrong done to him because he is not a born-again Christian.

According to him, it is only born-again Christians that turn the other cheek when they are slapped. As for him, he said he would retaliate with full force.

Wike was speaking at the birthday celebration of his Abia State counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Wike said Ikpeazu is a quiet man who observes the Bible verse that when “they slap you, turn the other cheek”. He said he was the opposite of that as he would return the ‘favour’ immediately.

The Rivers State governor said he might even go beyond returning the slap and blow off the entire head of whoever slaps him because he is not sure of what happens after death, but was sure of this present world.

He said: “Ikpeazu is a quiet man and a born-again Christian; I’m not a born-again Christian. I’m a Christian but not a born-again Christian.

“I told Ikpeazu; they said if they slap you turn the other side, but me, if you slap me here; I don’t know if I would survive the other side. So, I will blow your head off.”

Wike has an ongoing battle with the leadership of his Peoples Democratic Party following the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.

Wike said once the presidential candidate is from the North, the chairman of the party should be from the south. He, therefore, called for the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu to resign.

The governor argued that a particular region should not provide PDP’s presidential candidate and the National Chairman.

He has an ally in Ikpeazu, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in pushing for Ayu’s removal.
