The parents of a two-year-old girl are at loggerheads with the management of a private school in Mazamaza, Lagos after a teacher used a cane to design the back of their child.
The teacher was said to have resorted to flogging the girl because she was unable to recite the English alphabets during classroom work at Unique Villos, Mazamaza, Lagos.
A Twitter user with the handle, Waka Waka Tailor tweeted this incident, adding that the girl is his niece.
The Twitter user said when the teacher was confronted, she said it was not only the little girl that was flogged.
The teacher reportedly claimed that others in the class who failed to recite the alphabets were equally flogged. She reportedly maintained her stand that if they were still unable to recite the alphabets, she would flog them again.
The mother of the child consequently escalated the matter to the school owner, who reportedly did not give sort of response the mother of the girl was expecting.
The owner of the school reportedly accused the mother of the assaulted girl of trying to ruin the reputation of her school.
Waka Waka Tailor said there had been an earlier incident when another child in the same school returned home with bleeding nostrils. Upon inquiry, the child reportedly said she was flogged on the head.
At the time the mother had also visited the school to confront the teacher, but the allegation was denied and since they had no proof, they had to let it go.
But on the present case, with visible cane marks on the back of the child, the parents are vowing to pursue the case to a logical conclusion.
