Some young Nigerians stormed the Dantata Bridge on the popular Airport Road in Abuja in the early hours of Friday, demanding the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The protest was apparently planned to commemorate the nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary.
Armed with large banners and placards, the protesters, made bonfires on the highway.
However, heavily armed policemen moved in to disperse the protesters.
They were assailed with tear-gas and chased all over the area. It could not be ascertained if any arrests were made by the police.
