Bandits strike in Ogun village, abduct 4 Chinese, kill cop

At least four people have been abducted by armed bandits in Alaagba village in Ogun State.

The four victims who work for a Chinese company handling the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge railway project were kidnapped on Wednesday.

The armed bandits dressed in black were said to be about eight. The moment they stormed the project site at Adeaga/Alaagba in Odeda Local government area of Ogun State, they shot dead the policeman on guard duty and went for the Chinese workers.

The body of the slain cop was later evacuated by a team of policemen and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

It was gathered that the youths of the village mobilised themselves, together with some members of the Oodua People’s Congress and went into the bush in the hope of finding the kidnappers and their victims but were unsuccessful.

The Baale of Alaagba village, Chief Adekunle Olabamiji, expressed disappointment that the  bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen could lay ambush in the surrounding forest and kidnap the expatriates despite the protection organised for them.

Efforts to get official reactions proved abortive.
