The spokesperson for the Lagos police command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday said the embattled Nollywood actor, Olarewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesa, accused of child molestation is still in police custody weeks after securing a bail.
Mr Adejobi, in an interview with City People TV on Thursday said the actor was yet to perfect his bail and as such remains with the police until the court reopens.
“He has a case to answer based on the DPP report and he is going to be prosecuted accordingly when the courts resume, he is going to be charged to court and he will face his charges,” he said.
Baba Ijesa is currently under investigation and in police custody in Panti for more than one month. He was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Mr Adejobi said the police was immune to the criticism from social media users who felt the police was holding the actor “unnecessarily” despite him being granted bail.
He explained that it was not police’s fault if he could not perfect his bail.
