The son of the late Professor Godswill Obioma, Prince Godswill Obioma, the second, has said that his father passed away after a brief sickness and was not murdered.
In a message he sent to NECO, he said, “Dear Sir, this is to formally inform you that my father Prof. Godswill Obioma, the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO passed to eternal glory yesterday 31/5/2021 after a brief illness.”
“We request that you kindly notify the Board, Management and the entire staff of the Council of this development.”
“We shall keep you duly informed.
“Prince Godswill Obioma, the 2nd, for the family.”
This contradicts the account earlier given by the wife of the deceased, who reportedly spoke to People’s Gazette over the phone.
The wife, Elizabeth in that telephone reportedly said her husband was strangled by some gunmen who entered the compound at night and left without taking anything.
The Director of Human Resources of NECO, Mustapha K. Abdul, also debunked the claim that the deceased was murdered.
He said the late NECO boss slumped in his bedroom in Minna and was rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja where he eventually died.
“The truth of the story is that the man slumped in his Minna bedroom, rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja where he eventually died.”
