EFCC Arrest 10 suspected Yahoo boys in Akure, 18 in Abuja

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), through an intelligence gathering operation code named ‘Erinle’ on Monday March 29, 2021, arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo boys” in Akure, capital of Ondo State.

The suspects are Adekolurejo James, Gabriel Seyifunmi, Adekunle Joshua, Adeboyega Idowu, Olorunnayo Adewale, Akande Akinyemi, Oluwagbemiga Blessing, Oladepo Abiodun, Ibrahim Olagoke and Akinboyejo Abimbola.

Items recovered from the suspects, according to EFCC, include eight exotic cars, laptops computers, phones, documents and identity cards.

EFCC, in a tweet on Monday, said the suspects had made useful statements and would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation was concluded.

The agency also announced that it arrested another set of 18 suspected internet fraudsters at a hideout in Gwarimpa and Dawaki Extension in Abuja same Monday.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the operation followed credible intelligence obtained on their alleged criminal activities.

Items recovered from them include six exotic cars, twenty-six mobile phones, eleven laptop computers, flash and hard drives, three international passports and six handbags.
