Police arrest five suspected kidnappers in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers at Kuje and Daki-biu areas of Abuja over the recent kidnappings at Kiyi Village, a suburb of the nation’s capital.

According to a press statement by the spokesperson of the command, ASP Yusuf Mariam, the suspects were arrested during coordinated intelligent operations over the weekend by Police operatives from Dawaki Division and the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad.

She stated that the suspects had already confessed to supplying logistics to the kidnap syndicate operating along Kiyi Village.

According to her, exhibits recovered from the suspects include two AK 47 rifles, one Bajaj motorcycle and 30 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunitions while efforts were underway to arrest other members of the syndicate now at large.

She added that all the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the on-going investigation.

She conveyed the reassurance of the Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Ciroma that the police would do everything possible to rid the FCT of every form of criminality.
