Armed men, believed to be cultists have killed a police inspector, identified as Aniekan, in continuation of an onslaught against the police in the state.

Reports indicated that the inspector was traced to his house at Ikot Afangha community in Essien Udim Local Government Area of the state by the hoodlums and set ablaze inside his apartment.

It was the third in a series of grievous assault on the police by hoodlums. One police inspector was set ablaze inside a van at a checkpoint at Ikpe Annang junction in Essien Udium a few days ago.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, confirmed the incident, and announced that the Commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andrew, was saddened by the attacks against the police in the state.
