Nigerian coy, Flutterwave announces partnership with PayPal

Flutterwave, the $1bn fintech company founded by Nigerian wizkid, Olugbenga Agboola, has announced a new partnership with global payment solutions platform, PayPal.

In a statement on Tuesday, Flutterwave’s Head, Branding and Storytelling, Yewande Akomolafe-Kalu, said the new partnership allows African businesses and people living on the continent to receive payments from Paypal users globally through Flutterwave.

“It is going to change everything, it is going to make African businesses into global businesses,” she added.

According to the statement, Flutterwave’s integration with PayPal is live and operational across 50 African countries and worldwide. Flutterwave’s  merchants in Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritius, Malawi, Mozambique and Senegal are also able to easily accept payments from PayPal users worldwide.

Flutterwave was established in 2016 by Agboola. It has its operational operational head office in Lagos and its corporate headquarters in San Francisco.

The company made headlines globally recently when it clinched a $170m grant, raising the fortunes of the company to over $1bn within a space of less than five years.

Flutterwave works with businesses to build customisable payments applications through its Application Programming Interface.
