The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, and other monarchs were denied entry into the commissioning ceremony of the newly remodelled Adamasingba Stadium by security men on Wednesday.
The monarchs were invited to grace the commissioning and they arrived in good time for the occasion with their retinue.
The security officials reportedly told the monarchs they could only enter the venue with one of their aides.
After waiting for about 30 minutes without a resolution, the monarchs departed in anger.
Speaking with journalists after leaving the stadium, the Assistant Director of Media and Communications to Olubadan, Yanju Adegboyega said the development was disappointing and annoying.
Adegboyega said not only the Olubadan, but also the Alaafin of Oyo and Aseyin of Iseyin were denied entry by the overzealous security officers.
He said the officers were unmoved by the Very Important Personality (VIP) Invitation Cards carried by the monarchs.
