A Nigerian police officer, Inspector Stephen Enang, tragically passed away shortly after watching Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Real Madrid on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Enang, said to be a strong supporter of Arsenal, reportedly collapsed at a viewing center on Abang-Asang Street in Calabar.
Eyewitnesses described him as lively and full of excitement throughout the match, celebrating each goal with enthusiasm.
However, after the final whistle, his companions noticed he hadn’t stood up like the others.
On closer inspection, they discovered he had slumped in his seat and was unresponsive.
The late inspector, who hailed from Ekori in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State and was attached to the Akim Police Division along IBB Way, Calabar, was quickly taken to the Police Hospital in Akim.
Despite efforts by medical staff to revive him, he was pronounced dead.
His sudden death has left colleagues, friends, and family in shock.
As of the time of this report, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has not issued an official statement on the incident.
