Natasha Osawaru, popularly known as the partner of music icon 2Baba, has been ousted from her role as minority leader in the Edo State House of Assembly.
Osawaru, who represents the Egor constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost her position following a political shake-up triggered by the defection of four PDP lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC), granting the APC a new majority status in the assembly.
She was removed along with Charity Aiguobarueghian (former majority leader) and Yekini Idaiye (former chief whip).
However, PDP’s Blessing Agbebaku and Maria Edeko retained their seats as speaker and deputy speaker, respectively.
The changes followed a letter from APC’s acting state chairman, Jarret Tenebe, declaring the party’s new legislative majority.
In turn, APC lawmakers were appointed to key roles: Ibhamawu Aigbokhan as majority leader, Addeh Isibor as deputy leader, and Lecky Hussein Mustapha as chief whip.
Agbebaku indicated the PDP would nominate replacements for remaining principal offices while hinting at a possible review of current leadership roles.
Osawaru gained media attention after 2Baba confirmed their relationship and engagement following his split from Annie
