Former governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), ex-senator Shehu Sani, and former presidential aide Reno Omokri have reportedly been nominated for ambassadorial appointments by the federal government.
According to the Vanguard, the nominees are currently undergoing security screening, which precedes the official release of the list.
It’s been nearly a year since Nigeria recalled its ambassadors without naming replacements, raising concerns about the nation’s diplomatic representation
While one nominee confirmed the development under anonymity, others have yet to do so.
A presidential source explained that the delay in announcing names is due to ongoing clearance by the Department of State Services (DSS).
“Only those who have passed security checks will be announced. We expect the full list to be ready before month’s end,” the source stated
