Veteran Nollywood actress, Jaiye Kuti, also known as Jayeola Monje, has voiced her frustration over the growing trend of actors resorting to dancing and skit-making to promote their films.

In an emotional Instagram post, Kuti recounted how she was moved to tears after seeing fellow actor, Odunlade Adekola, dancing to publicize a movie.

She highlighted the struggles of filmmakers who, despite pouring huge investments into quality productions, still have to turn to social media antics for attention.

“It’s becoming overwhelming and heartbreaking,” she wrote, adding that some producers even part with their personal belongings to fund good films.

Kuti admitted she too had to join the social media trend—dancing publicly and creating content—despite spending large sums on traditional publicity like radio and billboards.

She compared this with the success of a previous film on Prime Video, which earned profit without relying on viral tactics.

The actress lamented that many creatives are now forced into content creation not out of interest but survival.

She made a heartfelt appeal to viewers to support Nollywood films through views and shares, emphasizing not all actors can promote like Funke Akindele, who enjoys it naturally.
