Lucy Fave Iwanger, the salesgirl of a Nigerian gold vendor accused of stealing stock worth N100 million has contacted her boss.

According to her boss, Lucy claimed she was kidnapped and ordered by her abductors to steal the gold.

It would be recalled that Lucy’s boss came online on Monday to raise the alarm that her employee, Lucy Fave Iwanger, absconded with jewellery valued at over ₦100 million from Flawless Elegance Luxury Jewelry Store.

The vendor, whose identity remains undisclosed, shared her distress in a video that immediately went viral on social media platforms.

In the emotional footage, the vendor recounted hiring Lucy as a staff member, entrusting her with significant responsibilities, only to have her betray that trust by fleeing with the entire stock of precious jewellery.

She expressed her devastation, stating, “Please help me. I don’t know what went wrong. I hired a staff just like everyone else. She took everything—my gold, my investments, everything I’ve worked for.”

The incident quickly garnered widespread attention, with numerous individuals sharing the vendor’s plea and expressing their support.

Lucy’s boss has now provided an update.

According to her, Lucy sent a message, claiming she had been kidnapped and coerced into stealing the jewellery.

In a new video, the vendor said, “Lucy just called. She said she was kidnapped, and the people who kidnapped her told her to steal the jewellery.”

The vendor who appeared to have filmed the video within a police station premises, assured the public that efforts were underway to trace the phone number used by Lucy and to locate both her and the alleged kidnappers.

She stated, “We’re doing everything to track the number, and we’re doing everything we can to find these people.”

The situation has elicited a variety of reactions from the public. Some individuals expressed scepticism regarding Lucy’s claims, suggesting that the information about tracking might prompt the alleged perpetrators to change tactics.

Others emphasized the need for intensified efforts, particularly by law enforcement, to track Lucy’s number and recover the stolen items.
