Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has shared her own side of the story regarding the hot altercation between her and the Deputy Spokesperson of the Senate, Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, at the Senate chambers on Tuesday, March 25.
Ezekwesili and Nwaebonyi were in the Senate to attend the public hearing into the sexu@l harassment allegation Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan levelled against Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
The proceedings became rancorous after Ezekwesili told the senator to shut up while trying to make a point.
Explaining the circumstances leading to the altercation during an interview with Arise TV last night, Ezekwesili said the Senators dismissed her and others who came in support of Senator Natasha and implied that they were unserious.
Ezekwesili mentioned that Nwaebonyi was about to speak when she asked him to “Shut up”.
According to her, the senator thereafter went into a tirade against her.
The former minister said the outburst of the senator shows the scant regard senators have for women.
Was she right to tell an adult, much more, a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to shut up?
