A popular Instagram influencer from Botswana, Lesedi Molapisi, has reportedly been executed in Bangladesh following her conviction for drug trafficking.

Molapisi was arrested in 2022 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh after being found in possession of 3.145kg of heroin.

She was tried and convicted in 2024 and nothing has been heard about her since then. Her vibrant social media handles went silent.

Many believed she was held in a condemned inmate’s cell in Bangladesh.

However, an X (formerly Twitter) user, @Iamjosh, has now come out to provide an update on her issue as he highlighted the consequences of using crime to fund an ostentatious lifestyle.

Quoting a post she made on January 10, 2022, that read, “Catch flights and not feelings,” the user wrote:

“Do you remember this babe? Her name was Lesedi Molapisi from Botswana. She was apprehended in 2022 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh in possession of 3.145kg of heroin. She was sentenced to death and executed last year in May.”

However, an investigation conducted by Microsecondnews.com revealed that Molapisi was executed on November 25, 2024, after her appeal failed according to a South African news platform, Kaya.

The government of Botswana assisted the family of the convict with funds to appeal the death penalty. However, the appeal was unsuccessful.

Molapsi’s story has since reignited discussions on drug trafficking and the severe penalties faced by offenders in some countries.
