Armed bandits suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a farm estate owner, Mr. Olanrewaju Oyeleye, 50, in Oba Ile community along Airport Road, in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The farm estate owner was abducted with his manager on Friday, March 7, 2025.
The kidnappers have now contacted the families of the victims, demanding the sum of N100 million as ransom to release them.
A source close to the families, said Oyeleye, who had spent several years abroad, returned to Nigeria some four years ago and decided to invest in the mechanised farming business.
Confirming the abduction, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, described the development as unfortunate.
However, he said men of the Amotekun had been drafted into the forest to rescue the two men.
“The kidnapping of the farmer and his manager happened in the early hours of Thursday, and we have been on it ever since,” he said.
“Our men are working tirelessly to ensure the victims are rescued from the abductors, as we are tracking their location.”
