Heavily armed men believed to be Boko Haram terrorists launched an overnight attack on Kwapre and surrounding villages in the New Yadul District, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The attack commenced at 7:30pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 and raged past midnight, leaving a trail of destruction.

According to locals, the insurgents targeted worship places, schools, houses and business premises, setting them ablaze after looting them.

The village head of Kwapre and Abalis Jawaja, Mr Joel Kulaha, said villagers’ valuables were carted away by the outlaws, but no lives were lost.

According to them, the villagers had been forewarned and had left their homes before the attackers arrived.

He said, “We escaped with our lives, but everything we own is gone.”

Military forces stationed in nearby Garaha reportedly responded to the attack in the early hours, engaging the insurgents and forcing them to retreat.

The villagers, however, lamented that the intervention came late as the village had been ravaged and ruined by the time the troops arrived.
